Post subject: | Encoding server vs. Storage Server |
I was reading up on the capabilities of MythTV, and was very pleased to see that front ends and back ends can be completely separated (I'm interested in building front ends without harddrives and doing a network boot) I'm also interested in keeping my RAID5 data server separate from the encoding machine that has MythTV installed on it. My question is: Does the MythTV backend do the encoding locally, and then move it to the storage server when the show if finished? Or does it encode straight to the storage server? Will that cause any problems or slow down (It is a gigabit LAN) Also, I just have to ask about how MythTV stores content: Would a movie I recorded on MythTV show up on the same listing as the 100 dvd movies I ripped and saved on the data server? Thanks |
