Post subject:  customizing "system status" menu

Does anyone know how to modify the system status menus to include extra info such as CPU temp? I'd like to see this metric since I have an AMD cpu that runs hot (around 45-47c) and I want to keep tabs on that without having to log in with the laptop to check it. I'm running Knoppmyth R5E50 and I already have sensors working to grab the temp.

I'd also like to have the box alert me via MythTv if the temp goes above a certain threshold (maybe while I'm watching a show, it would flash an alert as an overlay with the cpu temp warning on the screen). This would probably be a lot harder to do but at the least I can cron a script that would do a shutdown at a certain threshold for safety.

Any help would be appreciated!

In answer to your first part, I didn't modify System Status, not anywhere near that ability yet.
What i did was place a link to the Monitors page on the Web portion of the Information screen.
Then when the system is running i can just go into my Web links and select that and see all of the items i placed in the monitor web page, items like cpu temp, eth traffic, etc.

The seach is our friend:

a Link to the Monitors is both here in the Forum at
http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12833

Also that provides a link over to the wiki as well.
There are two portions just search for RRD tools or something like that.
Here is a link to the Graphs setup.

Anyway, once you get it working you can fine tune some of the setups.

On the second question, also crude but most AMD motherboards support shutdown at a given temperature. But with enough quiet cooling, I don't see that to be a problem.

Regards!

See the R5E50 upgrade hints stiucky posting for some tips fro getting the RRD that's already installed on the system working. All it takes it a couple minor tweaks.
