Does anyone know how - or if - it's possible to view and change the default mp3 rip quality settings? I nosed around through the various settings screens, and in many mythconverg tables without finding anything that reflects these settings.

I had to do some test rips to find out that high=320 and med=192. Now I'm trying to to change the high and medium quality defaults from 320/192 respectively to something else. There seems to be no way do this.

Any ideas?

I don't have an answer but rather the same question, so I'm bumping in the hopes that somebody else will answer...

I am wondering for a different reason: I am using KnoppMyth to serve music to my other computers using MT-DAAPD 0.2.4. The other computers have iTunes. Unfortunately, although the file lengths are OK when viewed from within MythMusic, they are all terribly wrong in iTunes. (iTunes thinks that the files are very-low-bitrate CBR files, and not VBR, so thus thinks that they're 20-30 minutes long or more.) Apparently this problem is due to a bug (?) in LAME, which was fixed in recent versions.

But I can't even tell that I have LAME itself installed. I have liblame0 3.96.1-1, liblame-dev 3.96.1-1, and toolame 02i-2, but I can't find the actual encoding program or command that MythMusic is using to encode the files. I want to find it, so I can either change its encoding options, or update LAME to a newer version, and produce files that iTunes will deal with better.

While nosing through the Mythtv archives I was surprised to learn these values are hard-coded into mythmusic. To change them requires a recompile.

Thanks for the response, Russ. Can't say I'm not a bit disappointed. That seems like a flaw to me, or at least a misfeature, but it would be a bit over my head to try and change it.

I'll just stick with CBR files for right now then, I guess.
