Hi all,

Is there any way to recover an autoexpired show? I have NOT watched any live tv since the file was removed a couple of hours ago and have nothing set to record until I figure this out (trying to avoid having the file's space be overwritten with new info if at all possible)...

Oh, by the way... I'm pretty much a complete noob but know enough to be worried about the filesystem being 'ext3'...

Please help!

Thanks,

Jesse

Well, I've only googled for about 5 minutes and found a few dozen cases of people asking about undeleting for various reasons in Linux and it seems the answer is a resounding...No, to recovering deleted files from an ext3 partition.

So, unless Mythtv didn't really delete and just tagged it in someway my file is gone...

Can anybody confirm this please?

Which episode did you nuke, and was it HD or regular? I have the last four or so HD episodes. They're kind of large, tho. (I think about 7G per episode.) Do you have any limits on your email size?

I'm sure someone has the normal-def versions and might share one with you.

I "lost" the most recent one only... in HD... I had issues with losing sound which started about 20 minutes before airtime and managed to get it fixed on my last reboot which came up 2 minutes after the show started, so my scheduled recording settings didn't kick in for some reason. So apparently it was just recorded as LiveTV which gets deleted after 24 hours on my box. The funny part is I didn't get to hear much of it anyways since we were having a small birthday party for my mother in law and I had the volume set real low, so I didn't really get to watch what was going on since I wasn't paying much attention thinking I'd see it later.
I noticed in my backend log that the file was about 6gb... waaay too much for email. I manage an email server at work, but even there it's a shared T1 which would take all day to handle something that huge.
Oh well... thanks for the offer though!

Some day they will have the whole season on BluRay or HD-DVD and I'll be able to watch it at this same quality again. Of course, it'd be nice if the players would drop down to the sub-$200... or even better, if we had a pineapple for them on MythTV... so by the time all this happens, watching Lost will be the equivalent to watching "Gilligan's Island" today.
:-)

I could put it on a couple of DVDs for you, but it wouldn't have an entry in the Myth database of shows, so the Myth player wouldn't know it was there. Bummer. You could watch it with mplayer or xine, tho.
