I am not sure why, but every month I have to redo my nvidia drivers on my knoppmyth box r5e50 with my fx5200 card. When it goes, the frontend consumes all cpu and I need to redo the driver. After that I get the nvidia splash screen at boot again and everything is normal. I also often about once a week have xorg crash and use all cpu. Any help would be great. This has a 2.8 Ghz p4 for 720p playback. Thanks all

Not me, but I suspect it's not the act of recompiling that fixes it, but something else in the process fixes a setting or corrupt/missing file. Maybe some sort of before/after snapshot would help troubleshoot this.

Or maybe a (selective) restore from backup, modified to not do anything with MySQL.

I have not done a restore, I wonder though if its from changing the templates? only thing else would be that I tried to use the vga port once(tv supports it)?

Suppose it's not the nvidia driver ?

Suppose it's mbmon running away ? See:
http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... highlight=

I have had two instances of THAT now... each after two weeks of clean running cpu use goes to 50%...

It goes away after a simple reboot...

no unfortunately I can tel from choppy playback and top shows 100%+ cpu (i know but it is over 100) . The other problem is xorg taking 100% ervery few days and I have to reboot. Pain in my ass. I wonder if my video card is crap? I do notice 2 inch vertical lines on playback sometimes playing on plasma. I think I will look for a card with more memory and see if it helps. Thanks all for your suggestions.
