Post subject:  Frontend won't start

I was running R5D1 with Cecil's v.20 updates.

I installed the latest SVN, everything looked fine during the updates (no errors) except now the frontend won't start.

The menu starts to load and then it stop and goes back to the Knoppmyth Desktop.

I then went back to my previous backup. (Which I have successfully restored from before) but still have the same problem.

I can't seem to find any information in the logs, and everything in the backend logs and dmsg look ok.

Where should I go next?

Tim

I was able to resolve the problem by removing the packages and reinstalling them using Cecil's original 0.20 install instructions.

Well I thought I'd try the update again, but still have the same issue.

The front end won't start. Does anyone have any ideas on how to trouble shoot this?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Is it a master backend or a slave or just a frontend?

I recall reading something along the lines of a missing theme causing this behavior. What theme are you using? A search of these forums should turn up a post from tjc (I believe) on how to change themes from the command line. Yep, here it is: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8856

EDIT: Of course, as with any troubleshooting, check your log files as well /EDIT

When you're in the linux desktop, open a terminal window and try this:

mythfrontend -v >mythfrontend.log

At least, I'm 95% sure that's correct.

Thanks for the input.
It is a combination frontend backend. I've been away all weekend I'll give it a try when I get back.
I'm running the Titivillus theme
