Should these settings work for with my hardware and connection setup? After I reboot and try to Watch TV, I am only getting white noise, although the channel information does display.

I hope this post is appropriate for this forum. I am not sure, if it would be considered a KnoppMyth installation or MythTV configuration question, but since it is part of the installation setup, I figured I'll give it a shot ...

Any advice would be really appreciated. This is my first-time setup and this is my only glitch (thus far).

You would be better off using an S-Video comnnection from the box to the capture card if it's available. It'll give you better picture quality.


If you're using an external box, you need an external channel changer script. If you're connecting it via co-ax to the tuner input on your card you need to set the pretune channel to the one that the box is rebroadcasting on. See the troubleshooting pages on the wiki:

Read them carefully and pay attention to the details.

tjc - I am using the SVHS connection now and I am getting my picture. I've modified the default external channel changer script and entered the name of my remote from lircd.conf in it and entered the scipt name into the KnoppMyth config field. No dice - but that's OK. Everything else works. I'll figure it out eventually.
