I know that I can set overscan by going into the appearance part of settings but I was wondering if instead of overscaning, I could crop out the staticy top part of the picture.

My intentions are two fold, overscan increases processor load and gives certain deinterlace methods a hard time. It also scales the image so it's no longer "pixel perfect".

TIA

If it helps, I use an Nvidia card and R5E??

I did this on a machine I set up for my little sister by editing the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. I can't remember exactly where it was but by tweaking some of the settings regarding either the monitor/screen I was able to get rid of a wierd line at the top of her tv screen.

She has an nvidia fx5200 using SVIDEO out to a 27" CRT style TV

I believe I found the answer by googling "xorg.conf adjust screen size cli" or something like that. Hope this gives you some direction
