Post subject: | Myth Backend will not boot. |
As you can imagine, without the backend running, KM is not very functional. I tried 'upgrading' a 40GB test HDD on the Poweredge 1600SC and the feedback was that it successfully installed. Before 'upgrading' the disk was configured to work with a Dell Dimension 4100. Hints and Tips http://www.mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=15195 indicates a race condition that could cause a problem, however, I rebooted the machine and still have this problem. I have tried to boot the backend process with: Code: /etc/init.d/mythtv-backend start The console returns feedback : Quote: Starting MythTV server: mythbackend. I have also tried ALT F3 to restart the backend. I invoked pgrep to determine if the backend process is running. Code: pgrep -fl backend
pgrep returns nothing (I guess that no backend process is running). I am unsure why the backend will not start and would greatly appreciate suggestions to determine root cause of the problem. My system configuration is described in my signature below. |

Have you investigated the backend log? |

At a guess you rearranged your PCI cards and now have dissimilar cards in a different order... Dropping and redefining the cards should clear it up if that's the case. OBTW - This form http://www.mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=15195 doesn't work very well you want to specify these as http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=15195 without the www. for them to work reliably. I've seen a half dozen like this in the last day or so... |

Hi, Go through your setups (alt s) and the setups under utility to ensure all is properly configured. Tv recordings storage location and tuners not properly set will stop the backend from running. If I disconnect my hdhomerun tuner, I loose my backend and can't restart it until it is deleted from the tuner list. ymmv Mike |
