I have a master backend with a single tuner (PVR150) and a slave backend with a (PVR350).
For some reason i cannot get channels > 62 on my PVR150 they come in as static. I tried a lot of things a while back but couldn't get this working.
Yesterday, i added the slave backend to my setup and all channels work properly on it. The problem is the system tends to use the tuner on my master backend as the primary so unless there are two recordings at the same time. All the recordings are done on the master backend.
Is there anyway to force all recordings which occur on channel 66 to be recorded on my slave backend's tuner? Or perhaps set it as the highest priority tuner.
Thanks,
Blake Robertson

There is a setting... I believe it is "avoid conflict". If you check it, it will keep the tuner reserved. You can also delete all tuners. Then recreate them w/ the tuner in the SBE being defined first. I believe in 0.21, will be more flexible in defining what tuner to use to record.

You can do this on a recording by recording basis.
When scheduling a recording, select Scheduling Options, you can see an option Use any available Input, you can change that to use a specific input.

Another tactic would be to assign a higher priority to the tuner that works, and a higher priority to the channels with trouble. Then they'll get first dibs on the good tuner.

Wouldn't the "right" solution be to create a second lineup
without the channels in question then assign that lineup to the
tuner that can't get those channels?

That is one of the beauties of Open Source (and perhaps the bane for the uneducated), there isn't necessarily one right answer.

I don't see this option when i go to Upcoming Recordings (then select my recording) then go to scheduling options. All i see is:
*Normal recording priority
*start recording on time
*End recording on time
*Match duplicates using subtitle & description
*Look for duplicates in the current and previous recordings
*This recording schedule is active
I also took a look on mythweb and didn't find any such options.
Perhaps my masterbackend doesn't fully recognize both inputs and therefore doesn't provide me with those options. Or perhaps my software is a little older? (I am running KnoppMyth R5D1 on my master backend.)
I also couldn't find an option to assign priorities to tuners.

Or perhaps my software is a little older? (I am running KnoppMyth R5D1 on my master backend.) Probably old software. It works in R5F1, although it seems to get reset sometimes. This only works in the front end GUI for now. It isn't available through the web interface yet. blak3r wrote: I also couldn't find an option to assign priorities to tuners.
That one is in mythtv-setup (link - http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... MytTVsetup) under input connections.

Blak3r it's there in R5E50, so perhaps it was something added.
There's always a reason for an upgrade.
BTW have you tried swapping the cards between machines to check that it's not a hardware problem and have you checked your cabling that it's not a dodgy splitter, connector or cable?

Problem Solved.
I went into mythtv-setup and all i found the input preference setting. I set that to a higher priority on the slave.
I also went and created another Zap2It account and created a new tv listing without the channel that gave me issues.
I'm not sure if I had only done the different tv listings approach if it would of worked. Probably...
Now all i gotta do is get my TV listings to appear on the slave with the proper time offset. (they are showing up as GMT). The clock is correct and on both boxes in the mythtv-setup->general->xmltv time offset is 0.

I was going to wait until any required changes for the new SchedulesDirect settings are integrated. I tried putting my 350 where i had my 150 and it didn't work right off the bat and i didn't mess with it to much b/c i didn't want to do anything that would prevent me from going back.
I suspect an upgraded myth with a more up to date ivtv the hauppage 150 will work...
--------------
One thing that seemed strange...
I went into my mythtv-setup and noticed that under my input connections that the tv tuner on my master backend shows up. I guess this is right though because under capture cards i don't see anyway to add a new capture card and specify the host it's on. When i run mythtv-setup on my slave, only the local capture card card shows up. BUT, i am able to see the video sources from the master backend. The backend is definitently aware of the slave b/c both cards show up in the mythweb backend status.
When i leave mythtv-setup i get an error saying that Card (type) is set to a starting channel 2 (which doesn't exist). But, on both input connections they are actually not set to 2. Shrug. Everything appears to be fine.
Thanks for all your help everyone.

See the R5F1 Hints linked in my signature for a fix.
