Post subject: | LiveTV freezes with 350 Tv Output and sticky keys enabled! |
I know there are several topics with problems which look like mine, but I can't find any solution from these. I found one which described the same problem as me but his problem came from its nVidia drivers and I don't have a nvidia card.(http://www.mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=13485&highlight=350+black+screen) this is my problem. I'Ve made a fresh install of r5F1 and I followed cecil's instructions to get Schedule Direct work. It worked with no problem. The TV out of my WinTV 350 works except in watching TV or recordings. I get a black screen but I can hear the sound. The UI does work and watching DVDs as well (Picture is great in DVDs). If I go in Recording I can see the picture of what I recorded in the little thumbnail but If i try to watch the recording I get a black screen (with sound). I saw in the Wiki it could be a iVTv driver problem, but Step 5 in Compileivtv10 scares me. I'm newbie in Linux and I have no idea what module options I have to add for 350 output. any help would be really appreciated! EDIT: I left my first post even if it's not the problem that this thread is speaking about anymore. |

See the R5F1 hints, search in that page for "350", apply the OSD fix. This is at least the the third time this one has come up in the last 24 hours, once more proving may assertion about questions coming in clusters. ![]() Soapbox time again... tjc wrote: With so many people upgrading to R5F1 now (and to R5F'x' soon) I'm going to take a second to get up on my soapbox to beg and plead with anyone who happens to reads this.
Please, if you're doing an install or an upgrade, read the R5F1 (or R5Fx) Hints threads. An investment of 5-10 minutes to do that before hand will save you endless grief. Please! The sanity you save may be your own. ![]() |

Hmm... Have you tried it with and without? |

Did you ever try without? It's not the default because some cards need it one way and some need it the other... OBTW - Be sure to power off to be sure that the firmware gets reloaded. If that doesn't help you may also want to try upgrading the driver to 0.10.5 since there are some pvr-350 fixes on that branch. |

See http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=CompileIvtv-0.10.0 mostly you need to remove things. |

Actually, you don't want to upgrade to 0.10.5 as you'll most likely get a visit from Alvin, Simon and Theodore. You'll want to get v4l/dvb from mercurial. The instructions from linuxtv.org are easy to follow or search the forum for mercurial. |

Cecil, I think R5F1 was still using the 0.10.x series drivers... Easy way to check: Code: dmesg | grep 'ivtv.*version'

Thinking ahead... You know how much fun I had trying to get 350 out working w/ Fx. Fortunately, I've nailed the last nail in the coffin. |

Do NTSC closed captions work? I've been stuck at a 0.10 branch version for months due to a change that first showed up in the 0.10.2 release. |

Ok now , I can see the picture but my box freezes when I'm using fast forward for few seconds. I can kill mythfrontend and restart it but it's not well displayed. All menus or images are black whereas it looks great in VNC. |

I get a black screen but I can hear the sound. The UI does work and watching DVDs as well (Picture is great in DVDs). This may be overly simplistic, but: go to Utilities/Setup > Setup > TV Settings > Playback. On the 5th screen (Hardware Decoding Settings), "Use the PVR-350's TV out/MPEG decoder" should be checked. If the only capture card in the system is your PVR-350, the device should be /dev/video16. ![]() |
