Xv picture controls don't work with Fedora 7 OR Fedora core 6

They were working fine with Fedora core 5.

I was using Fedora core 5 but had to move up as FC5 support is over and wanted to update to mythtv 0.20.02

everything works on F7 except that Xv picture controls now show value of -1 when trying to change brightness/contrast/color

This is the same box that was running FC5, now runs F7 that was installed fresh (not as an upgrade to FC5).

Any ideas how to fix this issue. my live tv image is dark and needs adjustment.

Thanks in advance

Please tell us what video card you're using, and the driver version. It is hard to diagnose or suggest a fix without that kind of information.

Thanks,

Here's the info:
Nvidia FX 5200 AGP 8x (Chaintech)
Nvidia 100.14.11 driver
Kernel: 2.6.22.4-65.fc7

Again, Xv controls were working fine with
FC5 and Nvidia 9755 with this card.

Did you figure this one out?

I am having the same issue with a M2NPV-VM motherboard. I just hooked up a HDTV via composite connection (ordered the wrong HDMI cable). The GUI looks great but the analog TV signal is washed out terribly. I can't use the onscreen Xv to adjust it. I'm using stock R5F27.

Looks like this is an old problem: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... t=controls but they didn't resolve it either.

My DVI->HDMI cable arrived and improved the picture significantly! I could still use some tweaking but it is now very watchable.

Anyway, I did run across a fix for some nvidia cards. Check this link:

http://www.mythtvtalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6407

Seems either commenting out composite or adding a disable command in the xorg.conf works for some. Didn't work on mine though.

Code:
Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Disable"
EndSection
