I have created a live cd based on Puppy Linux that includes Mythtv front end. Why? I have KnoppMyth installed on 2 pc's in a mbe/sbe configuration, on occasion I want to watch tv on another pc or laptop (work one cannot install anything on it) Knoppmyth will boot up into the frontend but I have no way of saving settings. I use Puppy Linux on aforementioned laptop it installs to a usb stick or boots from cd. It will save changes files etc back to usb stick or burn them back to a multisession cd. I have gotten the ISO down to 252 MB but I think that I should be able to shave a lot more off it. I installed it using the slackware packages which install the frontend, backend and dependencies. I then had to install the mysql package to get it to work. I have deleted most of the mysql binaries and mythbackend binaries and it still works. Not sure what else I can get rid of Puppy starts out @ about 90mb so I can't see why myth and dependencies are consuming 150mb's. Any thoughts as to what I might be able to delete? Thanks Craig |

here is a download link let me know if it works for you. **** note dhcp is not setup by default, on the desktop you will find an icon called "SETUP" that will let you setup your network and sound etc. http://momupload.com/files/49558/mythpuppy.iso.html If you have enough ram puppy will load in ram allowing you use of the cd/dvd drive Craig |

Puppy 3.0 allows you to use gslapt (Have to install gslapt.pet from the forum) I just installed it using that. I am not great with linux although I am playing a lot. After installing the slackware package I then tried it...no luck. I installed the mysql package and it worked. I would like to pull out all the unneeded files for the frontend and have a smaller iso. Puppy will load in ram if you have enough so it is very fast. Might be not bad for network booting I guess. Slax also has a package that if renamed should work in puppy. Thanks For KnoppMyth it is better every release. Craig |
