It seems like commercial detection has gotten worse...when I was running myth last year, it was nearly flawless...now, it seems to miss a lot of commercials? What setting do you have for your comm flagging? And...is this because broadcasters have changed the way they integrate commercials? Or was there a change to the commercial detection? Or is it just me? :p -C |

Commercial Detection worse? hmm, I would have to say less positive at flagging the actual commercials. Quote: ...is this because broadcasters have changed the way they integrate commercials? Or was there a change to the commercial detection?...
I would say yes to all at least in what I have found. The Broadcasters seem to be getting better at integrating the commercials into the show. Fewer Black frames, fewer keyframes, less to notice for Myth to key on. There are a couple of other things I have been tracking to try and determine what is the best mothod to rid my shows of those sometimes undesireable intrusions into my time. I am currently using All Available methods. not sure if it is best or not yet. YMMV |

My setup was pretty bad at detecting them until I set "all available methods", unticked the box underneath, and set maximum jump to 270 seconds (yes, 4 1/2 minutes is not that uncommon in Aus for a commercial break) - the default is an hour (3,600 seconds)!. Detects and auto-skips pretty much everything now. Mike |

Oops, I had strict on, turned it off...though I didn't see where the max jump setting is... |

It's still pretty bad ![]() I keep having to rew/ff because of all the commercials that are detected at the wrong times...during a single show, a couple will be perfect, a few way off. Wish I could get this accurate. |

Detection has been very accurate for me. I've only seen it improve in the 5 or so years I've been using MythTV. |

Odd, it just seems that after the upgrade to F27 that it's worse, it was quite good prior. If it was only off a little, I wouldn't mind. But it'll flag minutes of the show as commercial, then say the commercials end, in the middle of the commercials...it's quite annoying. Is it possible, to say, pick a specific show that I know is pretty bad. Clear the flagging, change the detection settings, then re-run it, until I find something that appears to work? This current, change it, records a day worth of stuff, hope it's better, pray it's not worse, is a slow process. |

I've only just started playing around with commflagging stuff, but Code: mythcommflag --help
appears to be able to help you out with that. You can rerun the commflagging, clear cutlists, etc.. with this. |

I've also found that commflag on HD shows is much worse for me than on SD shows. So much so, that I have taken to turning off commflagging on any recording schedule that I know usually airs on my HD stations. |

Can you include some of that 'aura' in the next KM release? LOL :p |

I thought Cecil already poured loads of his Auro into every release...... |

I recently switched from a PVR500 to a HDHR and I noticed that commercial flagging is not as precise. I also see some instances where a commercial will be flagged within the show itself. |
