Hope this is the right forum for this question.
I've recently set up my first myth box (Front and Backend) using the latest Knoppmyth. Everything is running pretty much how I want it, but the picture quality isn't great.
I have a mixture of HD and SD live TV (via DVB) all PAL, I also use the box to watch HD at 60Hz.
Motherboard is an ASUS M2NPV-VM with the component out board. I've tried running my output component at 1080i (presumably 60Hz) and via DVI at 1024x576 and 1280x720.
For most things all of the outputs look ok(Not as good as my old setup using the scart output from the FF DVB Card) but for live sport it's a bit of a let down.
I assume this is down to the interlacing, I'm using Bob 2x to deinterlace, but have tried all the other settings too.

My screen is an Hitachi 42PD5200 (which I believe is an ALIS screen 1024x1024 native res)

This is basically a cry for help, does anyone have any recommendations for different Myth Settings or different drivers, different playback settings?

Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated - thanks

Sounds like you might need to tweek your xorg.conf file. Sometimes adding nvidia-auto-select will do the trick. Check here for more info.

It's odd that you're running a 60hz system with DVB. I wasn't aware that there were any countries that had 60hz line frequency and PAL TV. In Aus, Britain and most other places I've been, 50/100hz systems are the go with DVB and PAL. This could be your problem, unless I'm completely mistaken.

Where do you live?

Mike

Too Many Secrets thanks for the link, I tried the autoselect but the xorg.log file says that my monitor is not reporting any resolutions!
I read through some of the other info in that thread and found the RTC/OpenGL issue in my logs, changed to OpenGL and it seems a little better, I'll keep cracking on with it...

manicmike, my apologies I wasn't clear enough, my DVB is 50Hz, the 60Hz stuff is video files for playback only not live TV
