Just testing the myth2ipod on a fresh clean install of R5F27. (well, maybe one week old).
I just checked "encode for iPod" on a recording, and it dutifully did the transcode, and I see the file in the "/ipodfeed" directory via mythweb, along with the xml file.
Within the local network (not behind another router-- though I've tried the external address also) I entered the local URL into the "subscribe to podcast" in iTunes.. and it shows up in the list but with an error icon and won't actually grab the video.
I opened up that XML file and saw this....
Code:

Family Guy - Mind Over Murder
<itunes:author>MythTV</itunes:author>
<itunes:category text="TV Shows"></itunes:category>

Peter is under house arrest after punching a pregnant woman he thought was a man.

<itunes:duration></itunes:duration> <itunes:keywords>Family Guy - Mind Over Murder - Animated</itunes:keywords>

If I open that in the browser, I see this: Code: XML Parsing Error: prefix not bound to a namespace Location: http://vanbrunt.homedns.org/ipodfeed/1011_20070930230500.ipod.xml Line Number 3, Column 1:<itunes:author>MythTV</itunes:author> ^
It DID prompt me for the password when I first "subscribed".
All the pieces seem to be in place.... have I missed something?

I think you need to update the config file with your hostname, I had to on mine anyway. I'm not at home at the minute so I can't tell you exactly what file, but one of them has the hostname defined in, I just changed mine to my mythbox and my feed worked ok
So then this link http://hostname/ipodfeed/1011_20070930230500.ipod.mp4
will be updated with your machine name or ip instead of hostname

D'OH!
What threw me is that when I clicked the link, it displayed with the proper hostname replacing where it actually said "hostname" in the raw, unparsed XML.
Found the script at /usr/local/bin/myth2ipod , and changed it. Works fine.

I have changed the hostname to both mythtv and the ip address neither have worked. It also asks for a password. Is there a password?
Thanks.

Not sure how you answered the questions during system setup... in my case I said "NO" to "Use DHCP Broadcast?" and instead hand entered a valid IP for my router's domain (e.g., 192.168. ...etc). So I use THAT address in the script.
Likewise, for password, I used the password that I had chosen for the user "mythtv" when I set up the system.... same as what works to access mythweb. The default was also "mythtv" if I remember correctly.
If you already put it into iTunes as a subscription with the wrong password, delete it. Then fix the scripts. The hand-edit the xml for any xml files that were created (as they will have been written with the wrong host names), if you want to have access to those.
Since the XML is just a text file, you can edit with the pico editor or the vi editor. Find where it says "hostname" and replace with the actual numbers for your machine on the network.
Now re-subscribe via iTunes, giving the right password for the mythtv user.
That should do it. At least, that did it for me!

Thanks for info. I edited both the XML and the php.feed and the myth2ipod file with the IP address of the machine. No luck yet.
Itunes isn't asking for a password so I am thinking the problem may be there.

Hmmm... I didn't edit the php file at all.... just the xmls for the recordings that had already been done.
Have you deleted the podcast from iTunes and re-subscribed from scratch? Not sure i iTunes is hanging on to that old blank password (like in the keychain or something... you might check there, if you're on a Mac, and delete any entry for that IP).

I have been hitting unsubscribe (windows) and then I have manually deleted the podcast then subscribed all over again. No luck yet.

Wow. I'm out of ideas. In my case, just changing the myth2ipod script took care of it. We'll have to see if anyone else has any ideas of things to try. Sorry!

I figured it out... it was in fact itunes. Here was my method.
1) unsubscribe.
2) delete.
3) Close out of itunes. <--- sad.
4) Start itunes.
5) subscribe, enter password bingo.

Yah, that is weird!
Glad you figured it out, though! It REALLY rocks being able to get shows for the ipod when traveling.
