Post subject:  Problem installing knoppmyth R5F27 with a PVR-500.

I am having problem installing knoppmyth R5F27 with a PVR-500. My system is a P IV 2.8 GHz with 1 G ram. When the system boots up it sees my PVR-500 however when I setup the cards in mythtv-setup, I get an error. When I try to do a channel scan and it tells me the following error.

Failed to open the card.

Here is my interrupts.

CPU0
0: 2281553 IO-APIC-edge timer
1: 13 IO-APIC-edge i8042
8: 1 IO-APIC-edge rtc
9: 0 IO-APIC-level acpi
12: 105 IO-APIC-edge i8042
14: 8247 IO-APIC-edge ide0
15: 11455 IO-APIC-edge ide1
16: 98904 IO-APIC-level eth0
18: 285 IO-APIC-level uhci_hcd:usb1, uhci_hcd:usb2, uhci_hcd:usb3, ehci_hcd:usb4
19: 579 IO-APIC-level ivtv0
20: 179010 IO-APIC-level CMI8738-MC6, ivtv1, radeon@pci:0000:01:00.0

I can manually record using the following command without a problem.

cat /dev/video0 > file.mpg

Or
cat /dev/video1 > file.mpg

The only error I see in the logs is:

TVRec(1) Error: Problem finding starting channel, setting to default of '3'.
ChannelBase(1) Error: InitializeInputs():
Could not get inputs for the capturecard.
Perhaps you have forgotten to bind video
sources to your card's inputs?

Has anyone seen or know how to fix this problem?

You don't mention whether you are setup with Schedules Direct.
http://www.schedulesdirect.org/ for your video source. Set this up in Video sources.

Assign these sources to the cards in 4. Input connections. You'll then want to "Fetch channels from listing source" and not "Scan for channels".

- See the R5F27 hints.

- See the BlackScreenWatchingTV page on the wiki.

This definitely looks like a configuration oversight.
