Am running R5E50.
Imported an "UNENCRYPTED" commercial DVD "Knocked Up".
It plays fine in KM video. However, I want to shrink the iso.
So revved up dvd shrink 3.2.0.15. Pointed to the VIDEO_TS file WinRAR created from the KM iso. No go. DVD Shrink Crapped out with "Invalid data in file". So compared the VIDEO_TS files to the VIDEO_TS files on the DVD. File names, number of files, file sizes all match. Ran a compare on all files between the KM ISO and the original. Lo and behold there are differences.
What is going on? I thought an ISO was just a lossless compressed copy of the DVD content and structure.
BTW, I can point DVD Shrink to the original DVD and it works fine. I can also just copy the files straight from the DVD and point DVD shrink to them, and that works fine also. It is just the KM ISO import that tanks.
The KM "iso" does not seem to be a real "iso".
No "pineapple" on the system......
Thanks

I ran into this same problem when I went to back up some .iso images to DVD when I upgraded my Myth box. I have no idea what causes it but DVD Shrink sure doesn't like any of the .iso images I ripped with Myth.
I found a work around but it was a bit of a pain. I mounted the Knoppmyth .iso image using Daemon Tools then use DVD Decrypter to "rip" a new image of the DVD. Then I was able to use DVD Shrink.
My new plan is to no longer rip any DVD's with my Myth box.

It's not "lossless compressed". It's just an exact bit-for-bit
copy of the DVD (or at least it's supposed to be).

The bits on the hard disk retain encryption for any DVDs with such encoding. Are you positive your original DVD is not encrypted?

According to the DVD Shink label you get when it does an analysis, it says "unencryped".

Exactly. But the "bit for bit" copy is not the same.....

As I said there is no "pineapple" on this system, and just doing a straight filecopy of the Audio_TS and Video_TS directories work with DVDShrink. It is only the KM iso that has issues.

I have a similar issue where I created and iso on my windows machine and copied it over to the Mythbox. It won't play.
Does anyone have a guess?

I've created dozens of ISOs on Windoze systems and played them on my KM boxen. What does "It won't play" mean? Does it report an error? What player are you using? I'm sorry for not explaining. When I choose the video from the list, the synopsis screen comes up. I hit enter again, the screen goes black for a second or two and then comes back to the synopsis. I can keep hitting enter and it will do the same thing. I do not see and error. Is there a log file that I can check?
I am using the internal player.
I checked the permissions and they're 744. All of the ones that KM did are 644. I don't think that this should be a problem. Good suggestion though. I've been bitten by the permissions and owner settings before.
Thanks.

I have isos that I have created using KM and they work fine. It is only the file that I copied over that is the problem. I have not checked to make sure that the iso is good. I'll look in to how to play isos in Windows and check that. slowtolearn wrote: Try /var/log/mythtv/myth[front,back]end.log.
Wow. There is some good stuff in there. I will need to spend some time looking through those. Thanks for pointing me to them.
