Post subject:  Lost Program Listing

I'm been running R5F27 as a combined front and backend system since it's release with no real problems, however recently it has started to freeze when moving between menu options, e.g. from watching TV to Media Library or just changing channels.

This has meant a hard reset in order to recover, however on last system freeze it lost the OTA programe listing.

I therefore have a couple of questions:

1. Is this system freezing a common problem and if so is there a fix

2. How quickly is the UK OTA programe listing updated - I have re-scanned and still all channels are showing unknown

I'm using Hauppauge Nova T-500 DVB capture card.

Many Thanks,

Mythman13

Hi mythman,

Not at all common. My current hardware has been running as a test/production machine for over six months with no reset. The last thing that caused anything like a lock was hardware (dual tuner with USB - USB tuner occasionally lost connectivity). You should list all your system components, not just the tuner, and tell us all the recent changes. How long have you been running R5F27? Any problems beforehand? What theme are you using? XvMC enabled? Video card? opengl? Have you performed an extensive search on this forum?

Also, please look at your log files, starting in /var/log/myth/.

Hi Mike,

Many thanks for your advice.

I have been running R5F27 since end September with no additions/changes. My system components are:

Compaq D510, P4 1.8Mhz
256 RAM
GeForce 6200 256MB DDR2 Graphics Card
Hauppauge Nova T-500 DVB Capture Card
320 GB Hard Drive

XvMC is not enabled and I'm using the Retro theme.

I have now recovered the OTA programme listings by removing and re-installing the DVB capture card and so far no lock-ups/freezes have occured. Before posting, I made a fairly intensive forum search, but didn't find a similar thread, although there were some observations about drop-out problems with the dual DVD USB card.

In the meantime, I'll take a look at the myth log files to see if they can give more insight.

Regards,

Chris
