Its fall again and I again missed 60 Minutes because a football game ran into the scheduled 60 Minutes time slot. OK, this weeks game was awesome, but I still wanted to see 60 Minutes.

Is there a way to handle this?

I used to try to compensate for issues like that by adding say an additional 20 minutes to the show I knew I wanted to record.

It was always on CBS and followed 60 minutes. They seemed to have a thing about letting 60 minutes run late but it always seemed to be within 20 minutes after the hour. Adding 20 minutes to my program allowed me to get the program but it was always 1 hr 20 and the first up to 20 minutes was that Junk 60 minutes show.

Just kidding of course, but that was the only way I found to compensate for the schedule slip. The guide never updated on that type of info.

I eventually dropped that show because the 20 minutes caused a conflict with other stuff she wanted to watch.

My Amazing Race got wacked yesterday becuase of a late running football game. I picked it up on one of the "timeshift" channels in my area at 10pm.

I think I might even move it permanently to that timeslot rather trying to catch it at it's normally set time as I was always running into delayed starts last fall on it.

Apparently not. I had hoped that the EIT schedule info
broadcast by the stations could be used to update the Schedules
Direct data in order to handle this situation. When I inquired
about this a couple months ago I was told that you can use SD
or EIT but not both (for a given station).

There's no guarantee the EIT would be correct anyways. I think I'll have to "punt" on this one and try manual scheduling for a 2 hour block like on an old VCR.

Not quite what you're looking for, but you may be able to hack this to suit your needs.

The only other option that I can see is for you to move to the west coast where this problem doesn't happen becasue everything is on 3 hrs later than EDT. ;)

Actually I was planning to record the Bears game and never got to it. It would have helped, because the last hour was incredible. But that's a tough script to hack. I'll just make sure I record in the time slot, not by the TV schedule.
