Post subject:  Reassign Channel Numbers?

Short form of question:
Can I just go into Channel Editor and reassign the numbers?

Long form:
So I just got a new HDHomeRun (Sweet hardware by the way...) which I'm adding to my backend that already has 2 PVR-150s.

It all seems to be working, except I now have a total hodgepodge in my channel listings. I have analog cable channels 2-99 (more or less) and Digital channels some of which got ATSC-style Channel numbers like 3.1, 6.1, 6.2, 10.1, etc, as well as some that are QAM-style: 75#1, 75#3, etc

To make things more confusing the channels end up listing semi-numerically, semi-alphabetically, so I have 78, 79#1, 79#10, 79#11, 79#2, 79#3, 80

I'd like to edit all the channel numbers to segregate analog from digital in some logical way. For example, edit the channum's to match the Comcast Digital line-up as appears on my cable box. (best WAF-for-the-buck)

I'd prefer to do this in the MythWeb settings page, but I could stumble through the mythtv-setup "interface" if I have to. (I'd almost rather write raw SQL though)

Thanks

That is exactly what I did. I changed the "channum" column in MythWeb to numbers that made more sense to me.

Just be careful that you don't have any scripts that depend on the channum field, make a backup, and go for it.

Thanks Guys, it worked like a charm.

There was one brief moment of panic when I thought it didn't work; but after a reboot all was well. In hindsight it probably would have been sufficient to restart the backend. I grew-up on Windows, so "Reboot it" is still my first step on any problem.
