Have a rock solid R5E50 system. Had to purge my programs and channels to correct a listings oddity. Worked fine. Went back in mythtv-setup and re entered the icon.jpg name for each channel icon. Everything worked fine EXCEPT for one channel (AMC). For the life of me I could not get that icon to display. All the icons are in /home/mythtv/.mythtv/channels/ and worked fine
before the purge. Looking at the channel record it is just like the other channels in the types of data in the icon field (just the name of the icon.jpg file). It finally turned out that I had to put the whole path in for that ONE record to get the icon to show up.

My question is. Since all the channels were re initialized and seem to have properly accepted the default of the icon location why would one record be odd? I tried deleting and re initializing that record multiple times but it refused to recognize the default path. Where is that default set anyway?

Functionally everything works fine it just irritates my OCD that one record has to have the complete path explicitly entered in the icon field.

Anyone else run into this?

Thanks

Hmmm... Some suggestions for things you could try to narrow
down what is causing it...

You might fsck your system in case there is a file system
corruption. Run 'shutdown -rF now' to reboot with a forced fsck
on startup.

You might experiment by trying a known working icon filename
from another channel for the bad channel.

You might try renaming the bad icon to a very simple name.

Does the bad icon file name have any embedded spaces or other
strange characters in it?

How about a difference in access rights between the good and bad
icons?

Cliff

Did you notice that the AMC icon is a .gif rather than a .jpg file? There are a handful like that in my lineup...
Code:
root@black2:~# mysql mythconverg -e "select icon from channel where icon like '%.gif'"
+-----------------------------------------+
icon
+-----------------------------------------+
/home/mythtv/.mythtv/channels/amc.gif
/home/mythtv/.mythtv/channels/cmtv.gif
/home/mythtv/.mythtv/channels/necn.gif
/home/mythtv/.mythtv/channels/trav.gif
/home/mythtv/.mythtv/channels/oln.gif
/home/mythtv/.mythtv/channels/speed.gif
/home/mythtv/.mythtv/channels/fnc.gif

Boy, that puts another wrinkle into it. The file was labeled "amc.jpg" when I looked at its properties in ACDsee graphics program it is a "compuserve gif" file. OK... I renamed it to "amc.gif". Lo and behold it shows up without the path specified! I went out on the net and downloaded a proper jpg file for amc and it does not show up unless I specify the complete path. The correctly named gif file does however. Is the default path for icons
file type specific?

What is so confusing is all my other icons are jpg. They do not need a full path.

BTW all my icons are 30x30 truecolor

Only the amc channel needs a full path only IF I use a jpg. If I use a gif
no path is required.....

I think I need an aspirin.
