Post subject:  Update mysql??

I run my km backend but also connect with my ubuntu laptop using mythbuntu...very slick :)

recently I updated my laptop and now when I attempt to connect I get the error that the two machines have different versions of mysql.

What to do??? Should I update the mysql on the KM backend or should I downgrade the mysql on the laptop? If I should downgrade how can I do that with apt-get...or would I need to download the older version and manually dpkg -i it?

As a side note... when I use mythweb to search for movies etc. it usually times out with a mysql error from the backend. Perhaps upgrading the backend mysql would solve this issue but I'm concerned about it creating ripples of problems throughout the system.

The [K, X, ed]ubuntu folks have packaged Myth 0.21, but the latest KM is running 0.20.2.

* The upcoming KM release will have 0.21 so you could wait for that
* You could compile and install SVN on your backend (see http://knoppmyth.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.p ... ompile+svn and http://knoppmyth.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.p ... ompile+svn)
* You could see if you can "downgrade" MythTV on your laptop back to 0.20.2.
