Just saw this on Slashdot last night.

(Tivo says?) Dishnet has lost all appeals and in addition to paying up,
must turn off some of their customers' DVR's.

Dishnet makes a counter claim that it will not have to turn off it's DVR's
and will appeal to the Supreme Court.

It is difficult to determine what the truth actually is from the article.

IANAL, but this sounds like it has ramifications for Dragon and such. I
wonder if MythTV hardware retailers will still be able to sell the assembled
hardware as long as MythTV is not installed and as long as they don't call it
a DVR?

I'm pretty sure the Dish/Tivo fight concerns very specific features that Tivo claims under their patent protection. Later Dish units were designed to avoid the patented feature. I don't think it will have any effect on MythTv boxes.

This has no affect on KRP systems.
