Post subject:  not booting up to myth

My system locked and I had to reboot. I got all sort of errors. I ran fsck on hda1 and e3fsck on /dev/vg/myth. Errors were found and repaired. Now when I boot it goes to a grey screen with the mouse cursor on the screen as a little x. I can't find a way to interact with the machine from this screen. I am working on the tv so the edges are cut off a little. I'm stuck on where to go next. Any suggestions.

Need more information - can you get to an xterm screen (alt-x or ssh into the box)? Need log information... Check your syslog, dmesg, kern. If necessary, try booting from the Knoppmyth install disk to get to a term screen.

I can't ssh or get an xterm screen. I booted to a single user fine. Trying to find a way to get my logs off the myth box. Usb is not powering on when I boot into this mode.

Edit: rebooting with the flash drive in place fixed the drive not powering on.

Post subject:  libkrb5support

When I try rebooting in runlevel 5 I get an error that I don't know if it is significant.

It says can not find libkrb5support.so. Something to that effect just before it goes to the grey screen with the x for a pointer. I am trying to get my logs but so far I have not seen the problem. I wonder if it is in .xsessions-error but It is too big to transfer to my thumb drive and my gb thumb drive won't mount. I have to use the file system and then it list devices 001 and 002 or something to that effect. Not the files on the drive.

Try Ctrl-Alt-F2 to get to a console (not an Xterm, as X seems to be having issues) and check your logs to determine what the culprit may be...

Post subject:  gave up and restored

I gave up and restored from a version that I used mondo to backup. I think I had some file damaged in my system crashes. Everything is ok now.
