upgrading, I'm definitely not going to try it. :/

One thing that I lost (at least until I can figure out a better
combination) is color OSD when playing HD content. I know it's
because I'm using XvMC now, but HD doesn't play as well without
it. I would say that HD playback is slightly degraded versus
R5F27, but I have only used it for two days.

When I enable ATSC captions, it looks like only about half of the text shows up. And what does show up is often partially off-screen. The timing also seems to be pretty wacked: sometimes a line of text is only displayed for a fraction of a second before being overwritten, and sometimes text seems to be rendered several seconds before or after it should have been. VBI captioning seems to work far better, but I assume it's going away at some point. Do ATSC captions work for anybody else?

My setup has no overscan, and ATSC captions are still useless: they're either off screen, overwriting themselves, or the timing is so off that you only get to see about half of them. Your description sounds exactly like what I see with an R5F27 setup that has no overscan, so it sounds like no progress has been made on ATSC captions.

Several others have reported even worse problems with HD playback: they had HD playback that worked fine before upgrading and now have CPU usage pegged at 100% when they try to playback HD recordings. From the descriptions, it sounds like something in the MythTV frontend player is broken.
