Hello,

I am in the process of consolidating remotes. One of the things I have done is configure on of the buttons on my remote to toggle the power on my projector and my receiver, using irexec and a script file. I would like to fine tune this task to prompt the user before turning off the projector, just in case the button is pressed accidentally.

Is there a way for a bash script to present a popup window that could prompt for confirmation before executing the power off?

Thanks,

Hi,

Look up "zenity". It is a command line dialogue box interface. Very basic but might do what you want. If only there was an equivalent that had mythtv styling.

Zenity isn't available on KM (since it is running FluxBox I suppose), but with the name I was able to search and find gxmessage. Using that I have updated my power-toggle.sh script to prompt prior to powering off the projector.
