Post subject: | Help using XMBC on XBOX to access MythTV Backend |
I have installed R6.02 on a computer on my network also connected to my network is an Xbox running XBMC 9.04.1. If I add a video source of myth://_IP_address_of_backend I can see All recordings, Guide, Live Channels and Recordings by title. If I select All recordings it lists nothing (even though I know there are recordings as logging in on another computer via Mythweb I can see them) If I select Guide I can see the TV guide and use it. Live TV lists nothing as does Recording by title. I have also installed and run the script on by Xbox Myth2XBMC-v22.50r2 it comes up with the error "Failed to connect to MySQL database. conn I have read here http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... oxFrontend on how to grant permission to MySQL is this still valid for r6.02? I have gone into Webmin to try and change permissions but I could not do it, if I clicked on Datebase permissons it comes up with DBI connect failed : Access denied for user 'mythtv'@'localhost' to database 'mysql' I read here about editing MySQL but I'm not sure how to do that? It is Post # 19 (second from bottom) http://sourceforge.net/projects/xbmcmyt ... dex/page/2 If anyone can help me it would be much appreciated as I am so close from getting it working just this last part is frustrating to get working. |

Ok, I have done some reading here: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=My ... e_Shooting Under the heading Setup in MythTV it states: If you don't intend on using the Guide then the MySQL related configuration can be omitted. Access to the mythconverg MySQL database is only used to view the Guide. I can get the guide to work by using Add Source and entering myth://IP_Address_of_Backend So why is it not showing my recordings? I'm not sure but does XBMC 9.04.1 only support Mythtv 0.21 and not 0.22? I know 9.11 supports 0.22, cannot update as there is no 9.11 for XBOX. |

Hi Ryan555, I don't have an Xbox but you could try this link with the latest nightly build. http://sshcs.com/xbmc/ The Windows build is working very well. Bob |

Ok, I downloaded XBMC_Xbox_30163 which was the latest at the time. Added a new Video Source of myth://my_IP_address and in the all recordings I could see the recorded shows. Yay! but.......... when I went to play any of the TV shows it would do nothing. I made and added an advancedsettings.xml file to the the userdata directory in XBMC. mythtv is the name of my backend. <advancedsettings> <hosts> <entry name="mythtv">my_IP_address</entry> </hosts> </advancedsettings> So now that works ok, the hardest part about setting up mythtv always seems to be network issues! |
