Post subject:  HDD is regularly tagged (making noises)

The HDD was full: http://forum.linhes.org/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=22653, however I blew away a 600 MB log file to free up some space. It is now constantly making the read / write sound (not really sure if it is reading or writing). I am not sure what questions to ask so that I can come up with a test \ corrective action. I don't imagine that this is a problem with the drive, and that it is something that caused th 600MB file. Any suggestions are appreciated.

If the drive is indeed not failing, most linux filesystems are NOT happy unless they have some free space on them. The rule of thumb that I was taught was 80 % full. You might want to re-evaluate your disk usage.
