The subject pretty much sums up my question. I installed LinHES as a front end on a virtual machine (to test it out). However, my backend is running Mythbuntu 12.04, which uses version 0.25. So my LinHES system is not able to connect because of the protocol differences.

So my questions are these:

Has anyone successfully upgraded to the latest version of mythtv?
If so, could you list step-by-step how to do it?

I'm not familiar with Archlinux or pacman at all, so the complete steps are greatly appreciated. I'm used to either apt-get (ubuntu/debian) or yum (fedora). Moreso apt-get as Ubuntu is my primary operating system.

Thanks and have a great weekend.:)
Patrick.

the differences between Arch and Debian are significant enough that trying to install .25 just for "testing out LinHES" is not worth your time. LinHES is more like an appliance software than Mythbuntu is, you can make changes (it's linux after all) but they will be difficult.
I really hope you stay with LinHES it's a great community.

.25 is in the testing repo and can be accessed by editing /etc/pacman.conf to point to the testing-repos, then updating via pacman

I would advise against mixing LinHES with Mythbuntu unless your comfortable with both systems. Outside of myth they are very different and tinkering could be a source of frustration.

mattbatt, would you be willing to expand on what you feel is difficult? This thread, email or different thread is fine with me, whatever you think is best.

Difficult is a bad choice of words. I remember when we changed from Knoppmyth to LinHES that I had to re-learn how to do many things under arch. I'm a Linux novice, I use LinHES because it's easy. I also didn't know that .25 was in the testing repo so I was imagining this new to LinHES user trying to install directions on main Arch forums or worse from source.
I love LinHES if my comments seemed negative I'm sorry.
