| Post subject: | Access problems from outside the network |
The mythtv is behind the router. I have VPN on the router. Once logged in by VPN i can ping many devices behind the router, but i get no response from mythtv when i ping it. I am really confused as to why is this, any pointers? thanks jim |

Jim, This appears to be a continuation of the thread you started in the 'general' forum. I am assuming that you have abandoned the port forwarding option, which is a good choice. 0> are you referencing the mythtv box via the ip address assigned to it by your netgear router? 1> can you ping the mythtv box when you are on your local network, ie: not logged in via the vpn? 2> can you please provide the command line and output of the ping command (both on/off the vpn) 3> can you do a traceroute to the mythtv box or other boxes on your network? Please provide output. 4> can you ssh to the box on/off the vpn? 5> can you access any other services on your local network when vpn'd in via other protocols such as ssh or web services? |
