i am new to mythtv, and linux for that matter is there a way to use an H.264 codec to record programs with Mythtv? |

not at this time. mythtv only supports three codecs RTJPEG MPEG4 and MPEG2(hardware cards) |

it may take some time. The status of mencoder's h.264 leaves a lot to be desired. Not only is it slow to encode, but decoding takes HUGE amounts of processing power. I look forward to the quality/size advantages, especially having spent a few days now playing with Apple's implementation, but it will be a while. |
