Hi,

Stuck here on the south coast we get all of four channels. No digital, no Channel 5.

mythfilldatabase takes around three hours, and then the program guide contains loads of data I have no use for. As I'm still trying to get this box set up, I'm running it quite frequently. It's almost allowing me a single configuration change a day...

Is there a way of telling the thing not to bother with the non-analogue channels?

You seem to having the same problem as red321 with this thread. There's something very strange going on here, I'm using the uk_rt EPG grabber for Freeview and my cable setup so that should take a lot longer than yours, but mine seems to be a lot quicker than yours.

Hmm, I'm wondering now if it's something to do with either BBC or ITV regional variations, as in the sample from his /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend, he was using east.bbc1.bbc.co.uk for his XMLTV id for BBC1.
I'm using for BBC, scotland.bbc1.bbc.co.uk, digital.scotland.bbc2.bbc.co.uk and scotland.bbc2.bbc.co.uk, for ITV the XMLID is scottishtv.co.uk.

The only thing I can suggest, is going into the backend, deleting the XMLTV ID entry for say BBC1, remove the line from your .xmltv file in ~/.mythtv , restarting mythbackend, then running mythfilldatabse, see what happens, going back into the backend re adding your regional variation for BBC1, adding it back to your .xmltv file, removing the XMLTV ID for BBC2 and repeating the above for BBC2 and ITV1.
You will need to keep your removal/addition of XMLTV ids in the Channel Editor in sync with the lines in your .xmltv file

You will need to use nano to edit your xmltv file in ~/.mythtv .

ETA: I forgot to mention that you can use the web interface to change the XMLTV entries for the backend (http://mythbox_ip/mythweb/settings/channels).

Thanks Bruce, that did the trick.

I'd seen that other thread, but hadn't equated the two problems.

I removed the other channels (the web interface is FAR easier than the frontend) and removed the unnecessary lines from .xmltv, and mythfilldatase took all of 90 seconds.

Thanks again!

Phil.
