I've read all the FireWire setup threads. I have a FireWire card installed in my KnoppMyth R5A16 box with mythTV 0.18.1. I have all the FireWire modules loaded and they find the card. gscanbus and plugwhatsit detect the port and the device on the other end (a Motorola DCT6200 cable box). So, I set up the capture card for FireWire in mythtv-setup. I set up the connection type. I match the two up. Now how do I watch it? When I watch TV and press Y to cycle through my inputs, it's not there. When I set up a show to record on one of the high digital channels (such as 270), it just uses one of the standard tuners to record it, which of course can't do it. How do I tell it to record shows using only the FireWire tuner if the channel range is in a certain area? And how do I switch to it using "Watch TV"? |

Not sure why everyone is having problems with this, once I had it setup it just popped right up for livetv and recordings. I do have two seperate video sources, one for regular cable and one for digital cable, so that mythtv will know when it can only be recorded on the firewire interface. with comcast it's really nice, because all the analog stations match up, so the lower channels I can just record and it can pick whichever tuner it wants, but If I choose one of the higher ones it uses the firewire interface. However I did have a period of time where I could not record any premium content, and I'm not sure why the best I can tell it's cause at that time I did not have any of the other video outputs on the cable box hooked up, though I have not tested this theory as it's working and I am loath to screw with it. |
