When trying to view newsfeeds (yes, I did set up which ones to get in 'setup') I get an error: failed to retrieve newsfeeds additionally, the mythweather doesn't work either - timeouts message window pops up when trying to get weather. I can reach the internet from mythtv box (tv listings work fine) Possibly related? I followed the instructions in that thread you mentioned about checking Webmin, but my zip code does appear correctly in the database Code: value data hostname Still not working correctly.

Mythweather timesout as soon as its loaded. I've tried every fix i've seen and nothing seems to work. Weather on mythweb works fine and pulls up the correct weather listing. Any ideas? |

the following worked fo me: * disconnect the network (i phisically disconnected the cable) * change the weather settings * reconnect the network. let us know how you got on. |

Hi rkhanso, Check your ownership in the /myth/ folder. ls -al /myth Some times this one is incorrect: drwxrwxr-t 2 mythtv www-data 4096 May 14 15:37 image_cache Also check ls -al /var/www/mythweb/php_sessions is owned:grouped properly. drwxr-xr-x 13 www-data www-data 4096 May 15 09:03 .. I think one of those is the issue. Mike |

It's just that, a mythweb session, for example when you log in as mythtv, and then various bits of information like the current search terms and you prefered date/time formats persist. Some of this can be fiddled on the "session" page in mythweb: http://YOURMACHINE/mythweb/settings/session |

Ok. So did we ever figure out the problem. I have tried pulling the network and setting the weather location. It shows up in my database, but I'm still have the same problem of the time out message poping up right away. Newsfeeds and Netflix also not working. And yes I too can access the internet from the myth box. |

Looks like it's my DansGuardian install that's causing the problem. I'll continue in that direction. Any one else find why or a way to fix his when using dansguardian? |
