Post subject:  Mythburn problem --> no m2v file

Thank you, in advance, for any help you may be able to provide; I am a linux newbie and really frustrated! :?

I have Mythtv installed on a Fedora Core 3 system. I would like to burn recorded TV programs to DVD. Having had no success with other scripts/apps under linux, I am trying to use Mythburn. It appears as though many other people are able to do this. I have Projectx 0.90.2.00 installed. When I use MythWeb Burn DVD, the process stops 'due to error.' The error messages that are obvious to me in the mythburn.log file just before it stops include problems with sourcefile_X.log and sourcefile.m2v after the script finishes running Projectx. The messages indicate No such file or directory

I have tried searching here and many other sites on the web (knoppmythwiki, google linux, linux and mythtv sites, etc.). I think that there is something that is not happening in Projectx because I cannot find any part of a script that is clearly creating an 'm2v' file. Is it supposed to be created by Projectx? I have not found much documentation about Projectx in English, and most of what I have seen assumes that I know all about video and audio file formats & processing--I do not. :( Perhaps some other part of the script creates these files? I have run out of troubleshooting ideas. Can any of you here assist me?

Many thanks!

Tom

Either you have to update your mythburn version or you have to downgrade project X to 0.8x.
By the way, there a few post about this subject.

Bube,

Thank you for your reply. Are you saying that there is a problem with the latest version of mythburn and Projectx 0.90.2.00? I have seen posts about downgrading Projectx to 0.8 but these seem to be solutions for people who do not have the latest Mythburn.

Since I downloaded the mythburn script from http://mabene.icomedias.com/mythburn/mythburn.tar.gz just last Wednesday, I believe that it is updated. I have not seen any posts that indicate Projectx must be downgraded for all mythburn versions. Is that what you are suggesting? Could you elaborate a bit? Thank you!

I don't know if your version is up to date. CVS version vs. http://mabene.icomedias.com/mythburn/mythburn.tar.gz
Think that the CVS version is the newer one.
So you have to get the CVS version or you have to downgrad projectx.
Projectx produces a file called sourcefile_X.log in older versions. But in newer versions (above 0.8x) the file is called sourcefile_log.txt, or something like that. Thats why mythburn complains about a missing file.
