Post subject:  Switching Audio

I have two input sources set up, the normal TV tuner input and the RCA input on the TV tuner card coming from a Satellite receiver.

With ALSA mixer I can choose an audio input channel, currently this is set to that of the TV Tuner but when switching to the RCA input for the Satellite I need to tell ALSA to switch the audio input to the sound card Line in.

Is there any way to do this? I can't seem to find anything that will allow me to alter the audio inputs?

I've been looking for a solution to this for some time but have been unable to find anything. How do people who have external Satellite receivers and normal TV Tuning switch there audio?

Thanks for your help

It's built in. You don't need to mess w/ alsa. Are you able to switch video? If so then double check your audio connection otherwise see below...

1) run mythtv-setup and add the new input I think icon 4. Also add a channel guide #3 if needed.
2) Restart the backend (just in case)
3) On the front end while watching live tv or something type "T" or is it "I" to scroll thru your inputs.

Hopefully then you should be able to toggle between the 2.

On a more brute force method run ivtvctl with the -p option to tell it which input u want to see.

Good luck,

Jay

I must be missing something...

I have set up the video as you suggest and I can switch inputs no problem. However the sound always comes from the TVTuner. I can't see anyway to set which sound input to use per card input? Each card only seems to have one sound input?

When using the TV Tuner, ALSA needs to be set to record audio from the Tuner card and when using the Composite input ALSA needs to be set to use the Line In?

Mythtv doesn't sound like it's handling your video capture card properly, or it's bad. Which do you have?

If you happen to use the IVTV drivers (Haupauge cards) then the backend command is ivtvctl. Try it with the "-A" to list the audio inputs and "-q" option to set it.

Good luck

I have a LeadTek card with the standard BT driver. The card itself doesn't appear to have an audio input. It has the COAX for TV and a single component in. I assumed the audio for component needs to come in via the systems sound card? Or is that not correct.

System Boot Message:
bttv0: detected: Leadtek WinFast TV 2000

Thanks again
