Hardware: -

CPU: AMD 1400
RAM: 256MB
HDD: 40GB Segate Barracuda
TV Card: PVR250
Motherboard: ASRock (Sorry thats all I know about this board at the moment)

Installation: -

I have just installed and configured R5B7. I have also made the required chages in the tv_grab_uk_rt to ensure xmltv gets the listings correct, and all listings are being displayed ok. The 250 remote is confiured and working.

Issue: -

I'm currently unable unable to record.

Example: -
I set a recording to start in 1 min, after the recording start time has elapsed, I check in system status and the tuner is not recording!

I check to see in the "Media Library" > "Watch Recordings" and the program is listed, however when I try to play the recording, Mythtv tells me that the the file couldn't be located.

If i watch live TV I can change channel etc ok. However, when i look in the "Media Library" > "Watch Recordings" the items i watched as live TV are there and can be played??

To me it would seem as if the functions of live TV and recordings have been switched arround???? (just guessing here).

When I delete the last of these recordings and the list is empty, the system hangs, and I'm unable to exit the "Delete Recordings" section. I have to switch to a terminal window by pressing Ctrl + Alt + 2, and comming back to X by pressing Ctrl + Alt + 7

Does anyone have any suggestions, or a log file i could look at that might give some more information

take a look at: /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log

it might give you an idea of what is going on.

Well I have see some errors in the log relating to the channel setup, I have resolved those errors (i think) but the problem is still the same.

Here is the full log there are entries in the log where i forgot to change the default channel, and that's why liveTV couldn't be started. I fixed that too and liveTV now works!

Do you have a dvb card as well? They have changed the ivtv drivers to get them to play nicer with the dvb cards, but when you have both, the upgrade requires a few changes.

At the very least make sure that in mythtv-setup your card has the following settings
pvr-x50
video0 (or video1 as in my case)
tuner0 (tuner or television are not the same)

Everything you are reporting sounds like the settings are messed up for the backend. Try stopping the backend. Then start the mythtv-setup. In the second category, what settings do you have for your card? In the fourth area of set up what connections do you have for your card. Only the tuner0 should be attached to your channel settings.

If everything is correct you may still wish to erase all the cards in area 2 and start over. Sometimes that is enough to correct a problem.

Sorry if these are too simple, but I thought it might help to start with the basics.

associated with channels? When the channels were added maybe something got mucked,

I am experiencing the same issue. I've reboot the machine several times as well as deleted the card and created a new one with the same results.

Essentially whats happening is the box is recording the second I enter into LiveTV. If I change channels, a new recording session is started as well as at the end of every show.

There is no other cards in the box and mythbackend.log shows no errors like tumbledown log show.

As for the hanging when you delete the last recording, though it does occur. If I wait, it comes back.

Now, I user snapperdragon's script to get the pvr350 card to work and at the time there was no support for the R5B7 release but I discovered that if I manually selected the older version. it worked. Could this be the issue ?

SnapperDragon has since updated his script. I'm going to reverty back and use his newest script and see if that works.

Also, as for it hanging when I try to delete the last recording.... it does though a reboot isn't neccessary. I simply restart the gdm.

/etc/rc5.d/S99gdm restart

...and to avoid it all together I'll always save at least one recording. :)

This is just a guess based on personal experience:

Check the channel settings in mythtv-setup and select the channel inquestion--Make sure there's a "Frequency ID" entered at the top of the second page.


Proto, as far as I can tell from your description, you are squatting on a unrelated thread. Start a unique thread and describe your issue there.

I had a similar problem of not being able to record any programs on my PVR150 & PVR250 tuner cards, but LiveTV worked fine on the same cards. (This was after upgrading from R5A12 to R5B7 and mucking around with the ivtv configuration and the driver patch to make the PVR150 work again, etc., so I had added & deleted the tuner cards a couple of times before I got to this point.)

The major clue was seeing the "Could not find input: Television" message in mythbackend.log which caused a failure to tune the channel when trying to record, hence no output file (despite being listed in "Recorded Programs").

I had to do two things to fix the problem:
(1) In MythTV Setup, I went into the "Channel Editor" and deleted all the channels. Going back to "Input Connections", I re-Fetched the channels from listings source. Next...
(2) Configured Webmin, and used it to browse the "cardinput" table in the mythconverg MySQL database. Found several bogus rows in the table for card inputs that don't exist. So I stopped the mythTV backend, carefully deleted the bogus rows in the "cardinput" table, re-ran "mythfilldatabase" just in case, and now I can record programs again from the program guide and not just "Live TV"!

(Mucking with the database directly isn't recommended for everyone since you can really screw stuff up, but in my case I had a "dd" backup of the entire disk so I didn't mind trying.)
