This is very strange. After running for almost two weeks with an occassional reboot, my Mythbox which was once playing in full rich digital sound started acting up this AM after a reboot. At first it seemed very subtle as I was watching an HD program, but after switching over to MythMusic, I can confirm that there is something wrong with the sound. Now the sound coming out is very tinny and screetchy. Highs are more like scratchy crackles and the bass is very "crumbly" sounding. I don't recall making any changes to ALSA, I only did the reboot to check on AGP speed (4X) as I was having some HD playback issues with my 6200. Also, I did change video RAM from 128 to 256, but I don't recall changing anything else.

Any suggestions on the cause or how to troubleshoot? I did run alsamixer and it doesn't appear to me that any of the settings have changed.

Thanks in advance.

I've found random problems like this get fixed by turning off the MythTV box and disconnecting the power cable to force all of the components to lose power. Then leave the box off for 10+ minutes before plugging back in and turning on. Strangely, some components (PVR-500) need this long to fully reset the encoder chip.
