I have two Winfast tuners and two SB Live family cards (1 live and 1 live value). I get sound from the first card (recorded and playback), but I don't from the second. I've modified the alsa-0.9-knoppix file in /etc/modutils in a manner suggested by the alsa site, and ran update-modules. I also used alsamixer to turn up the volume levels on the second card to match the first one. Still no luck. Here's what my alsa-0.9-knoppix file looks like:

alias char-major-116 snd
alias char-major-14 soundcore

options snd major=116 cards_limit=4

# Sound Card 0
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
alias /dev/dsp0 snd-pcm-oss

alias snd-card-0 snd-emu10k1

alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
alias sound-slot-0 snd-slot-0

# Sound Card 1
alias sound-service-1-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-1-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-1-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-1-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-1-12 snd-pcm-oss
alias /dev/dsp1 snd-pcm-oss

alias snd-card-1 snd-emu10k1

alias sound-slot-1 snd-card-1
alias sound-slot-1 snd-slot-1

I'm new to linux, so I figured that I must be overlooking something obvious and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks.

when you setup the tuner cards in mythtv-setup did you specify /dev/dsp for the first one and /dev/dsp1 for the second one?

Yep, I do. I have /dev/video1 associated with /dev/vbi1 and /dev/dsp1 and it still doesn't work. Thanks for the reply.
