I just picked up an Antec Fusion Black case with the IMon VFD display. I am having 2 (possibly related) problems:

1. The VFD seems to be locked up. It is totally lit, and nothing shows up on the display. I have been able to get LCDd to run, and it seemingly accepts input to lcd0, but all I get is a featureless wall of bright blue pixels. Any ideas?

2. I can get data from the IR input on the VFD via mode2, but irw gives me no response from the remote, despite the fact that my remote and my lircrc file worked with my old usb IR dongle. I'd rather not use the usb dongle since I have a working ir sensor on the case, but I don't know how to get this one to respond.

Thanks

Look in the HOWTO section on setting up the iMON VFD, and the Pad remote. It still needs some tweaking, but that should get you going.

I've checked the howto section on the wiki and can find no reference to the imon VFD there. I did notice the section on Parallel VFDs, but mine is a USB.

Am I looking in the wrong place?

EDIT:

OK... found your post in the howto section of the board... trying it now.

One note, though- I do not have the PAD remote... didn't come with the case.

Thanks

Try running /usr/local/bin/vfd_install.sh if you are using a newer (eg. R5E50 or better) version of KM. That should get the VFD going, don't know much about the IR receiver at this point.

Sorry, I wasn't clear about where the post was (on the board!). I always search the board first, then the wiki.

slowtolearn has the right command. If you don't have the remote, you don't need to download/install anything.

Ok, I think I have the remote working (I'll have to program it, but oh well.)

I'm still getting nothing on the VFD, though. It does seem to be functional, but it is totally lit up, with all of the icons and pixels glowing blue. Is this a hardware issue, or is there something else I'm missing?

What info would be useful in determining the problem?

Leif

Icons? Blue? That doesn't sound like the VFD but rather the LCD. The vfd_install.sh script doesn't handle the LCD (I wrote it) but this link may help http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Imon

Thank you!

It is the LCD. I guess I had the wrong hardware version. I got this case as a display model from the CompUSA that is closing down here, and had no documentation, so I was guessing. Guess I guessed wrong, eh?

Thanks again.

Hi guys,
I have the antec fusion case and want to get the inbuilt IR working. The VFD is up and running fine, however I am stuck on the IR.
I have tried to get the imon pad thing up and going but just having no luck.

FYI my remote is a logitech harmony 785 which worked fine on the same box when running vista.

I get the following output, which i think means the IR is working, but the remote doesnt do anything.

[root@localhost /]# lsusb
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 006 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 006 Device 003: ID 15c2:ffdc SoundGraph Inc. iMON PAD Remote Controller
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 045e:0039 Microsoft Corp. IntelliMouse Optical
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 007 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 008 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

any help is welcome :)

A quick forum search for iMON IR yields a number of posts, including this one.
