Hi guys,

I'm (im)patiently waiting for the components for a HTPC to arrive from NewEgg.

Currently we just have an old 27" CRT screen TV so we're just looking at SD recording and playback for now.

What I'm assembling is:

Motherboard: Asus M2NPV-VM (already had on hand)
Ram: 2gb DDR2 800 (Kingston from list in manual)
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 2.4GHz
Case: Antec NSK-2480
Tuner: PVR-150
Remote: Haupaugge PVR-150 remote

I plan on adding another PVR-150.

I haven't decided on a hard drive yet. It looks like SATA is well supported now but I was wondering if there were any size guidelines to follow? The Western Digital 640 & 750 drives seem to be a good price right now so I'd like to pick one up but I want to be sure it will work with KnoppMyth and my motherboard. If not what brand/size works well?

Any guidance would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Steve

Hello Steve,

Thanks for choosing KnoppMyth! I'd go with the 750 myself...

Hi Cecil,

Do I take it then that there shouldn't be any problems with using a large drive?

Just curious, I haven't built a computer in a lllooonnnggg time and I've never even seen a Linux box so I'm doing my best to make sure everything is compatible.

We have a Polaroid DRM-2001G DVR and we just love it, but it's left us wishing for more (most notably a good program guide and easier recording setup) so I can't wait to try MythTV!!!

Thanks!

Steve

Nope, no issues (as long as you don't have a flaky BIOS).

If your motherboard can recognize the drive, then Knoppmyth can use it.
