Hi All,

I've been toying around with making myself a system that would use the Asus V9520-VS FX5200. This is a VIVO card and a farily new one at that.

I've been reading the forums and faqs and need some help.

Basically;
    Is it possible to use this card as a tuner *and* use it to connect to my TV?
    Does anyone know if this card will even work at all?

Most of the research I've done has pointed at using Hauppauge tuner with a Geforce 440. But, I'm confused because it's cheaper to buy the VIVO card than to pay for the 440 and the Hauppauge. Plus, the 5200 has better overall performance.

Anyways, can someone shed some light on this situation for me please?

there is supposedly a driver for the vivo cards, and some people on the driver site report succes getting it to tune tv, however I have never heard anyone having success using it with mythtv, so you are welcome to try, but it is very likely that with current drivers it is just simply not possible to use that setup.

As far as I know these cards don't have a tuner. Rather there is Video In and Video Out. So while you can connect TV out to the card and have it display, you still need to manual (or via "IRBlaster") change the channels. And like Xsecrets said, the functionality isn't proven with MythTV. There is a reason the PVR-250 is more expensive....
