well i'm reinstalling it now and it's having major mysql problems on the fresh install i'm trying something now hopefully this fixes it otherwise i'm stuck and have no idea why it would have errors right from a fresh install. The only other strange thing is that it remembers the date i entered from last install where usually i had to enter in the date every time. I tried deleting all the partitions on the hard drive before installing as well and that didn't fix it. I'll keep you posted to see if this fixes it...if not i have no clue what to do.

Thanks

Jon

okay yea that didn't work it just says it can't find anything when it's going through the configureation and it just quits out of xterm and leaves the background with knoppmyth. I know this knoppmyth is cool and all but i'm considering just installing like debian or another good distro and then installing mythtv from there... what do you think is this a good idea or not? or is my problem fixable. It still remembers the date which I find very strange.

Jon

Sounds like your install is roached. Did you:

- Check the md5sum of the ISO to make sure it was good before burning it to CD?

- Try reburning the CD at a slower speed?

You must have a working DB for MythTV to work. It's at the very heart of the system. Also be aware that a lot of stuff, especially tuning, won't work properly until you succesfully download the program guide to populate the DB. Finally, you must got through all 5 steps under mythtv-setup to set up your tuner properly.

It will just quit if you enter the wrong root password. All you need to do is restart X...

i followed all the steps down to the "make clean"

Code:
root@Singularity:~ # cd /usr/local/lib/ivtv/driver/
root@Singularity:/usr/local/lib/ivtv/driver # make clean
rm -f *.o *~ core
root@Singularity:/usr/local/lib/ivtv/driver #

so what is "rm -f *.o *~ core" anyway

:?:
