I believe I have the begining of a solution for folks with PVR-250s who still do not get a picture after having tried all of the things in the following thread:

PVR-250 TV Tuner Not Working

After reading the following FAQ at the IvyTV site, I figured out how to get a picture on my new PVR-250.

http://ivtv.writeme.ch/tiki-view_faq.php?faqId=1#q13

I must change the input the driver uses from 0 to 4. The following command does this:

/usr/local/lib/ivtv/utils/test_ioctl -p 4

The problem I have is that even though I modify the /etc/sysconfig/ivtv/cfg-0 file to reflect this not-default input, the /etc/init.d/set_ivtv_params script calls the driver with input 0.

What do I have to change/do to get the system to use input 4?

TIA

Do you by any chance have

Code:
#IVTV_TUNER='4'

or

Code:
IVTV_TUNER='4'

in /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv/cfg-0?

By default it's commented out. It may be a bit obvious, but just checking...

Obvious, but still a good question.

Yes, I uncommented it. In fact if I run it at any time after boot by typing /etc/init.d/set_ivtv_params start it sets the correct input (4) and I can then select "Watch TV" from the Mythtv interface and I get picture and audio (although fairly choppy - I'm not troubleshooting that yet!).

After boot up a dmesg gives me this:

saa7115[0]: decoder set input (0)

After I run /etc/init.d/set_ivtv_params start I get this:

saa7115[0]: decoder set input (4)

Is there a way to do this when the module loads? Maybe options ivtv input=4 or something along those lines in /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv?

This is fixed.

I had not selected which input to map to which device.

This is done in mythtv-setup in the Input Connections screen.

Oops...
