I discovered what turned out to be a known issue with i810 video cards and their limited tv-out capabilities. With XFree86 4.3.0, xv output won't play on tv-out. When I installed KnoppMyth R5A10 (brilliantly simply, btw), it installed XFree86 4.3.0. When I couldn't figure out why everything seemed to work except video playback on TV-out (VGA playback worked just fine), I did some research and discovered the issue with 4.3.0. So I added some Ubuntu linux apt sources and upgraded to Xorg's X11 (sorry; not sure which version), and everything started working again! Woohoo!!!

So, as a suggestion to the maintainer, would you consider using Xorg 6.8.2 as the default X11 server as opposed to XFree86 4.3.0? TV-out seems to be a pretty important option to support for a PVR solution, and it appears to be a fairly simple fix.

I tried a previous version of KnoppMyth that wouldn't even boot. R5A10 installed quickly and easily first time out! Brilliant work!

A "how-to" write up on the wiki about this wouldn't be a bad idea however. Figure it this way, next time you upgrade the box you're going to have to do it again anyway, so you might as well have good directions written down somewhere and sharing that info will help your karma.

please, post you xorg.conf here or tell how did you configure i810 for tv-out switching

xorg.conf isn't going to do you much good without xorg so he really needs to writeup the whole thing ubutu mirror addresses package names etc.
