You can try this:
Export a show using nuvexport. Manually edit the SQL to reflect your video files. Use nuvexport to import the show back in... It may or may not work... Good luck.

Is there a way to put a file into the database so that I could use it as though it was recorded by Myth.

I doubt this will work, but you could try it:

mv file.dv /myth/tv/1001_20050101010000_20050101015900.nuv
myth.rebuilddatabase.pl --try_default
mythcommflag -f /myth/tv/1001_20050101010000_20050101015900.nuv
or
mythcommflag --video -f /myth/tv/1001_20050101010000_20050101015900.nuv

I think I will get my new box built before I start to experiment.
I don't want to miss any TV ;)
Having issues with the new box and installing any knoppmyth on it. Which is funny because it is almost identical to my working MythTV box. DRATS. So it might be a few days or weeks till I can hack this thing up. Or hack a new box together. I do have an Epia, I am not sure if I will use it or not. I like it the way it is right now. We will see. Maybe find another box to hack to pieces.

I did research every piece of Linux editing software I could find. DVgrab is the tool I need to get working for simple digitizing. The complex multi recording I want to do would need more programming. And I don't do that well. Okay I am not a programmer and shouldn't even say I can do it. Cuz I can't.

Oh and the fact I have to work and have a LegacyCD that was due a while ago doesn't help with getting this project to the next level. It may be a week or two or a month before I get my experimenting done.

From what I can tell from different boards the firewire port in MythTV is used by cable boxes to communitcate the video data. MPEG-2 encoded video and the channel changing information. The data uses the IEEE-1394 pipeline but has nothing to do with DV. This is all 3rd hand info since I don't even have digital cable.
