I have an Sound Blaster Audigy and am getting no sound through analog. I eventually want to use the 5.1 analog outputs for surround, but for the moment I would be happy to get any sound out of my TV Box.

I have searched for over 4 days and reinstalled KnoppMyth countless times (due to breaking it trying things) but no sound.

Could someone lead me in a direction to get it working. Looking through dmesg I get no device registering as /dev/dsp0.

Please help.

You are a champion. The only thing is that I had to make sure I said yes to the modifications otherwise it didn't work.

I can't believe all the trouble I have been through and it was that simply. If it wasn't inappropriate I would kiss you. :D

Update, the settings don't stay if I reboot the computer. Simple answer is don't reboot the computer, but unfortunately due to this computer still being in the experimental stage I am unable to leave it on all the time.

So is there a way for me to make the configuration changes permanent, I'm not real sure where to look to see what changes alsaconf makes.

Gee I really don't know anything, but when I was playing with my TV Tuner settings something I have done has made my audio settings stick across reboots.

The only thing I have done is edit my /etc/modules file and done a update modules. Perhaps this needs to be done manaully after running alsaconf. :?

Since having to reinstall KnoppMyth for the upteenth time I am at a loss now as to how to get TV audio out of my TV Card through my audigy. I get sound when I plug the speakers directly into the TV Card, but when using a pass through lead from the TV Card to my Audigy nothing.

I have tried to tell Line in alsamixer to Capture but nothing happens no matter what is selected when I press the [spacebar]. In alsamixer I have Line2 Capture, but I don't know what the hell this is.

I have install gamix to see if this is easier to navigate, but it won't work. I have updated alsa, but I can't get it to play TV through my sound card no matter what I do.

Please help

When I plug the lead from the TV card to the Mic socket I get sound, but nothing from the Line In. From what I have read on the net it is a given that Line is a capture device, but I am still lost.

After breaking my box, AGAIN, on reinstallation I finally worked it out. I have to in alsamixer -c0 (Audigy) I have to turn up both the Analog Mix and Line to get the audio through the card.

At last, now to get it through the mixer to turn it on and off, but that is another thread.
