A few days ago i decided to get rid of the windows and started lInux installations. I tried the LinVDR and it worked perfectly. After 5 minutes my hole system was installed and i could even watch DVDs.

But i need to use my monitor as the output device and the pictures of LinVDR needed to be deintarlaced. --> I had to install MythTV.

I installed the KnoppMyth, but it woul only bother me. Everything was perfect during the install, but mythtv never started properly.
It seems like, it cant detect my DVB Card. Whenever i boot, it says "mythtv found no Video card".

But the DVB-Card ist properly installed and "lspci" shows me the following : Multimedia Controller : Pilips Semiconductor SAA7146 (rev 1).

My system ist has these components :
- Duron 1300
- Board : Elitegroup ECS k7s5a
- Geforce 2 mx 200
- Technotrend Rev. 1.3. DVB-S

What am I doing wrong ?? I dont get it, the technotrend card is recognized by lspci, but mythtv cant find it..

Is there anybody who can help me ?? I dont feel like reinstalling Windows and would like to have mythtv running.

Currently KnoppMyth doesn't offer out the box support for DVB. Please search the forum.

Hi,

MythTV and Knoppmyth support DVB perfectly (Search DVB in this forum). Your card need firmware for to work. Use:

$ cp /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/dvb-ttpci-01.fw-261d /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/dvb-ttpci-01.fw

You need load module ves1x93 (frontend Technotrend Premium 1.3). Insert in /etc/modules for load in boot.

Reboot and good luck.

I've done exactly as suggested by the previous post, but it seems there's still something amiss. I'm afraid I am quite the newbie with Myth so sorry if I ask something obvious.

First of all, I am running KnoppMyth R5A16 on a pretty basic Athlon board.
I have a Technotrend DVB-C card and after inserting the stuff mentioned it seems to be detected at boot time.

When running capture card setup, however, I got the message "unable to open card #0" and "device or resource busy" which is kind of funny. Maybe my card was watching tv behind my back? This I managed to solve by manually shutting down mythbackend and my card was then detected fine by Myth as ST STV 0297 DVB-C.

I've struggled through the rest of the setup somehow and even got my Finnish channel lists populated somehow. The problem is that when the setup is done and I get to the actual MythTV and select "Watch TV" I get a black screen for about 10 seconds and then Myth crashes me to the desktop. The output I get is as follows:
