[I hope this is the right forum....]

I've loaded KnoppMyth R5A16 and a model 1045 PVR 150. Updated ivtv using instructions at http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page ... stallation. I can use ptune-ui.ph and mplayer to see real good video but I get no sound. When I try in MythTV the picture is all snowy unless I set the tuner (tune0) using ptune to a good channel then start MythTV - then I can see great video but still no sound whatsoever.

Any suggestions for a newbie? I've looked all over the forum and tried many config changes in /etc/mythv/modules/ivtv (most recent below). I also included the IVTV details from dmesg since I'm still not sure it's has the correct tuner type.

I'm too bleary to go on tonight....

I know I'm close......

thanks much !

I would be concerned about this bit...
Quote:
cx25840: firmware read failed

Look in the /lib/modules directory to see if you have all the pieces needed for a PVR-150...
Code:
ls -al /lib/modules

Also, even though the tuner type looks like it's being identified without undue problems, I seem to remember something about other options that you need to use for this tuner...

thanks for the reply!

I have nothing in /lib/modules except ivtv-fw-dec.bin and ivtv-fw-enc.bin, an misc, extra and a 2.6.11.9-chw-2 directories.

I did a find on cx25840 and found a lot of files - which one do I need in this dir?

does the tuner type of 50 and idx =99 sound right? I've been looking all over the forums for more info and can't seem to find an answer.

I sure appreciate your help!

That type matches what what other people have found in the ITV mailing list archives and/or forums for the 2002N. Look at the 150 set up info from linuxgeek http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/search.php?search_author=linuxgeek and others for other bits of firmware you may need... Possibly: /lib/modules/HcwMakoA.ROM see steps 33-37 here: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5552

SUCCESS!

- thanks very much for your guideance on this. I followed the steps and so far I have great video and sound.

one final question, any thought on why I am getting about 360 of the following nessages:

ivtv: Tuner Type 50, Tuner formats 0x00001000, Radio: yes, Model 0x008d1659, Revision 0x00000000
ivtv: Radio detected
cx25840: starting probe for adapter SMBus I801 adapter at eda0 (0x0)
cx25840: detecting client on address 0x88
cx25840: writing init values
i2c_adapter i2c-0: I2C level transfers not supported
i2c_adapter i2c-0: I2C level transfers not supported
[ repeat over 300 times ]
i2c_adapter i2c-0: I2C level transfers not supported

Also, I just finished the lirc install for the grey remote at http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... th&start=0
and it seems to work great too!

I think I have some schedule mis-matches but things look good now.

I really do appreciate your help!

thanks :D
